About Us

What's Our Story?

Let's start by sharing what "Dahlia Jewel Co" means to us. The name Dahlia comes from a beautiful flower grown across the globe. The Dahlia flower is elegant and sturdy but it's what the flower symbolises that aligns so perfectly with Dahlia Jewel Co.

The Dahlia Flower is a symbol of Commitment and Kindness, which is something that we value entirely here at Dahlia Jewel Co.

From our materials which are ethically sourced, combined with recycled metals and lab grown precious gems. Our packaging which is made from recycled card and paper and is recyclable or home compostable. Where possible we cut out unnecessary printing by digitalising things such as our jewellery care page which is available by using the QR code stamped onto our mailer box and available on our website.

We have considered each of these elements because at Dahlia Jewel Co we are committed to the future and understand the impact we have on the planet.

With fast fashion on the rise, trending products out of style that hit the landfill after a single wear, we are committed to making classic and durable pieces out of recyclable materials. Which is why our jewellery is made of SOLID metals such as Solid Sterling Silver and Solid Gold. Because of this, with maintenance our pieces can last a lifetime and can be passed down to generations to come. Which is exactly what happened with our Founder Claire and her dear Grandmother Jenny when Jenny passed away.

It was in this moment when Claire's Grandmother sat with her and her sister Emily at a picnic in one of her favourite places of Mandurah, Western Australia. Jenny had brought her jewellery box and shared with the girls the beautiful and sentimental pieces that she would no longer need as she prepared for her journey to her next life.

As Jenny took each piece from the jewellery box, she told the story of where or how she got it, where she wore it and why she liked it. Jenny divided up the pieces between the girls and said "I'm glad they can be loved by someone else now 'and' If you don't like them, you can always have them recycled".

It was in that moment that Claire realised the importance of Solid Gold and Sterling Silver and the impact that fast fashion in jewellery can have on our planet and resources.

You see Gold Plated, Vermeil and layered jewellery, though it can last up to a few years cannot be recycled due to the cost of recycling. Plating is often layered on top of cheap metals causing the plating to rub off or react over time, leaving the piece discoloured and unwearable unless re plated, which can be costly and often not worth it.

Because plated jewellery has a short lifespan, you can be left disappointed when the time comes to retire a sentimental piece. It is also very unlikely your pieces will keep long enough to hand down to the people you love most.

And with that, Dahlia Jewel Co was born. A company from humble beginnings with a heart warming purpose to be committed to a lifetime of many, for the people and the planet.

Yours Faithfully
